ASPI device driver Information

This article applies to nearly all of you who run MpegDJ Encoder and have not heard about the ASPI update released by Adaptec. The latest ASPI version is 4.5.7 as of this article (March 1999).

Here you can download the - > ASPI-Driver < - directly.

We heard from a number of MpegDJ Encoder users who had problems running our software using old ASPI drivers and their problems disappeared after installing the updated drivers. Therefore, we recommend the update to all users.

MpegDJ Encoder interacts with your CD-ROM (DVD) drive via the ASPI-for-Win32 device driver, namely, WNASPI32.DLL which is usually stored in your Windows directory (\WINNT\System32 for NT).

This module is always used for communicating with your drives in Windows 95/98/NT/2000 even when you do not have SCSI systems!

ASPI is seldom mentioned and so automatic and care-free for most people. Moreover, its installation is done once when your Windows system was first installed on your system. That is, the WNASPI32.DLL module is included in the official Microsoft Windows 95/98 install CD-ROM.

That's good news. The bad news are that you need the latest version of this ASPI driver to grab audio tracks with MpegDJ Encoder.

When starting our free support application Xaudio Support EXE, you will get information about the existence of this drivers. At any rate, this software will tell you whether you need an update or not. It apparently checks the version number rather than the file date of the drivers.

This program will automatically update all SCSI drivers on your Windows system. It supports Windows 95/98 and NT/2000/XP!
